Moira B (from Malta), Tx for your note. It's years since I took the train from Termini Gastel Gandolfo; in recent years I've been to Lago Albano by car. You need to walk around the lake - if you have the time. For me the best views are directly opposite the town - looking back towards the town. You could hop a taxi from outside the station - if you have the time/money/inclination - and request a drop off at the Villa Giulia sul Lago on Via Spiaggia del Lago. Then take the trail through the trees around the perimeter of the lake. This is where you get those views. The trail meets up with the Via dei Pescatori (through a wire fence/car park); continue until you meet the Via dell'Emissario on your left. Turn here, climb the road and it will take you back to the station. This is a popular walk/jog/bikkie route; you'll see lots of people. It's shady and OK on a hot day in the shade under the trees.
