The Great Lakes Maritime Center is a real gem. It provides a wonderful background and orientation to the area, as well a wealth of info re passing freighters and other river traffic. There is no entrance fee and the volunteers are friendly, helpful and informative. There is also a farmer's market outside the Center on Tues & Sat.
Absolutely! I see dogs being walked there all the time. Be sure to clean up after your pet as kids walk there and lots and lots of people. It is a wonderful walk for young and old alike!
