No, we were originally Scargo Lake Museum in 1981 - founded by Harry Holl and Roy Freed, then changed to Cape Museum of Fine Arts in 1982, and housed in a rented space of the Theater Marketplace building. The current location was built and opened in 1990. The name was officially changed to Cape Cod Museum of Art in 2004, to be more inclusive of all art forms.
