At the parking at field 5 and walking over to the lighthouse can you just go lay on the beach there? Coming with children so we want to bring a wagon with our beach gear. would we be able to leave it by the lighthouse outside somewhere for is it advisable to leave it in the car and go back and forth?

I would say yes, I saw a few people doing exactly as you described and they did not seem to have any issues.
