Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site preserves an architecturally significant Georgian mansion and its surrounding landscape. The house served as the headquarters of General George Washington during the Siege of Boston from July 1775- April 1776. Beginning in 1837, it was the home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, soon to become the most popular writer in the United States. The site also shares 200 years of American history beyond its two most famous occupants. Free tours are offered mid-May through October.
