It will depend on individual and how thorough one wants to be. I would suggest around an hour or so to have a better view of the place. There are handful of things to see.
I tried to visit today (Monday June 5) at 3.30pm Khoo Kongsi was closed. Is it temporarily closed? I am in Penang until June 8 and would like to visit.

This place opens daily from 9am to 5pm. Didnt note of any functions going on though. Perhaps you can try going again today? All the best! :)
