This is a good hike that is challenging, but the views are so impressive that it’s easy to continue. There isn’t a lot of shade, but there is plenty of wind and sun, many picture spots, and tons of f… 216celinal的完整评论

This was by far my favorite hike on the island! It isn't necessarily far by distance; however, the elevation gain is tremendous and the trail precipitous. Boy is it worth it at the top though! The vi… RockChalkEm的完整评论

Not really straight from the beach. Lanikai has two main roads and a bunch of houses in between the beach and the starting point for the hike up to the pillboxes. Shortest distance between the two I’d say is equivalent to 4-5 city blocks. Lanikai is a small, residential area. Parking can be problematic and gets crowded very easily.

As far as the pillboxes concern. You do have to pay attention to the parking signs. There is a small little parking lot before you drive into Lanikai off to your right. You will have a little walk. There is also on street parking in Lanikai. But do pay attention to the signs. Or you could try Uber or Lift and leave tour car where you are staying at

Also, I’m not sure how much you know about the trails in Hawaii, but unless they are a part of the National Park system, or Diamond Head, then they are not maintained. Most hikes do not have paved walkways, handicap or stroller access, and the like. They are rough, natural and all terrain trails. Parking is limited as this hike falls in the residential area. We parked a couple of blocks away on a street close to beach access. Walked to the trailhead. Be sure to research as much as you can about the hikes you would like to do. Best of Oahu, All Trails, and Unreal Hawaii were some of the websites I used when researching the hikes I wanted to do. I also watched YouTube videos. Hope that helps.

Drive there is really good. Parking is the problem. No parking lot and you have to park on the street. Read signs as it is a residential area and parking is limited. It is worth the hike, so be patient in finding a place to park. Almost wind up hiking to the beginning of path as it is to the top. Take water.
