I honestly wasn't expecting this to be as interesting or as large as it was. They had a great visitor center with displays and artifacts to look at. The employees in the visitor center were friendly … Voyage54672979166的完整评论

The sidewalk from the parking lot to the lodge is flat concrete, but there is a gradual slope down and up again. The entrance to the lodge is very narrow, so I don't know if a wheelchair could fit inside. The remainder of the trails are dirt and grass. There is also a boardwalk through wetlands, but I don't recall if they have any stairs. But, all of the mounds can be viewed from the road and parking areas and there are interpretive signs adjacent to the lot. The visitor center is very good and is accessible. I recommend a visit even if you can't get to the top of the mounds. You'll miss some good views, but that's all. Call ahead if you are interested. The park rangers were very helpful and should be able to answer any more questions.

Except for special events sponsored by the Ocmulgee National Monument Association no fees are charged to enter and visit Ocmulgee National Monument. Since my review was focused on the Spring Lantern Light Tours of the Ocmulgee Monument, I do want to express that there is a fee for this particular special event. The spring Lantern light Tours (March) an event fee of $5.00 is charged for anyone 13 years and older. This event is a very excellent event and is certainly worth the cost of $5 to be able to participate in this walking tour by lantern light led by a park ranger as he narrates and tells stories about the monument and the history of the mounds. The other very special event held at Ocmulgee National Monument that is very excellent is the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration. The Ocmulgee Indian Celebration (held on the third weekend in September) event fee is $6.00 for 13 &up, 6-12 $3.00, 5 &under are free and active military with I.D. $3.00. Again this event is a great one if you are a history buff.
