The penitentiary is certainly very interesting but if you have ANY interest in military history and weaponry, the Weapons Museum in the back of the compound is A1 fantastic. Not large but showcasing… ESVoogd的完整评论

Most of the tour is at ground level on level paved surface. one or two areas are up stairs, but you can go around them. If you go during summer, check the temp. and bring a bottle of water.

Angie, I agree with Jane. You have the option of both self-guided and guided tour options. We did the self-guided, and it took us a solid 90 minutes. The guided tour is around two hours. A guided tour had begun just as we started our self-guided tour, and was still going as we left. We overheard some of the guided tour, and there are many interesting stories related that we wouldn't have gotten from our self-guided tour. Either way, if you have some time to kill in Boise, the Penitentiary is a worth while stop.
