Hi - as far as I know, the statue is still held in a place called Memphis, outside Cairo. i haven't heard that it has been moved. Sorry I can't be of more help.

First, the confusion comes from the fact that there are TWO colossal statues of Ramesse II, one lying on it's back at the museum in Memphis and one that stood in front of the main train station, which was moved to storage a decade ago. It is this latter one that WAS moved to the upcoming Grand Museum in January. Do a search on Google per National Geographic - TripAdvisor does not allow links here.
