I don't have a dog, but seem to remember dogs on the trail. Do go, there's a beautiful view of the Mississipi River, and the trails are lovely and easy to navigate.

I only spent time at the lookout point and not the entire park. The part of the park I went to was not appropriate for biking. You may want to do a search to make sure.
Wondering what week may be best for peak colors, know it is a crap shoot for predicting color but am flying into Iowa in October for a few days. Can be flexible on dates: either October 8-14 or October 17-24. Thanks

Holy cow! So sorry. Just saw I had a notification. Hope you still came to IA. Usually late September to mid-October is a good time to come for color in the Northern part of the state.
