Oct. 18—A wind-whipped vegetation fire erupted just before 1 p.m. Friday in a rural area east of Vacaville, burning an estimated 800 to 900 acres by midday before nearing containment.

The Vacaville and Fairfield fire departments issued their 2024 statistics on Facebook this week, providing info regarding their total calls for service which show their teams were kept very busy.
