A mysterious burst of radiowaves with more energy than the sun emits in a year has been traced back to a cosmic graveyard dead galaxy filled with ancient stars.

The image of nearby galaxy Messier 81 was captured by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The galaxy is located in the northern constellation of Ursa Major (which also includes the Big Dipper).
