One Midlands elementary school was recognized Thursday for its commitment to giving all students a chance to compete.

Leaders at the South Carolina State House are trying to bring Washington, D.C., to Columbia — or at least a part of it. Alexander English was born in Columbia, S.C. in January of 1954.
