If the removal threads for the crank puller in the crank are damaged, there is a possible repair. Begin by inspecting the threads. If only the outer threads are bad, you may still be able to remove it using a normal tool. Make sure the threads of the remover are clean. Start the tool straight to the threads and carefully thread it in place.

2016年3月26日 · A friend called me up yesterday after a mis-adventure during his attempt at a bottom bracket overhaul. He stripped out the threads on the (left) crank arm while using a Park crank puller. In a pinch, we rented an automotive gear puller but could not get enough purchase for that to work. Any tips on this?

2021年7月12日 · 3) For the puller threads, get a chainring extraction tool and clean the threads. I had a bust one so was ideal. 4) Use a candle to scrape against the threads, all the way around, leaving wax scrapings on the chainring / extractor threads. 5) Hold them with pliers or whatnot and carefully waft them over a gas job flame or hot hair dryer.

2022年11月18日 · I have an old park crank puller tool that had a flip side with the 23mm thread for stronglight/TA instead of the normal 22mm. the threads have been ground to become a tap. It helped me remove a lot of stripped cranks like that, back in the wrenching days!

2007年4月5日 · You can try to thread in the crank puller nice and straight, it might work, it might not. As a last resort, you can take a punch and place it on the crank, near the bb interface and give a few sharp taps, that should start pushing it off the spindle.

2012年3月27日 · I was trying to remove the drive side crank (square taper, swaged, Sugino crank otherwise without a model designation) using my crank removal tool (Park CWP-7). I discovered the crank is very well attached, and I just ended removing all (yes, all) of the threads used by the crank removal tool (non-drive side removed just fine).

2021年11月2日 · Hi, I’m trying to install a BBS02 on a new Trek Marlin 4, and when trying to take off the crank arms, they wouldn’t budge. From advice online I gave it even more force and “elbow grease” and eventually I stripped the threads off. I went online and saw some advice saying you could try heating it up using boiling water and doing it again.
