Gray Davis wasn't recalled for trying to balance the budget. He let Enron (and other energy traders) shove their giant energy dick into every state resident. Since Cali was getting most of its power from out of state, those providers started restricting their supply to extort more money.

2021年1月19日 · ....Gray Davis handled the constant rolling blackouts extremely poorly, we had a recall election that turned into a farce, and Schwarzenegger was actually sincere with his candidacy (as opposed to, say, Gary Coleman). He did enough to get elected at a time when the state really lacked political star power.

The decision to recall should be based on poor performance, or a governor not following the majority's desires. It has been used cynically in attempts to remove popular governors. The law should be ended or vastly rewritten to keep petty, unnecessary, wasteful, and pointless recalls from happening.
