A petticoat is an undergarment that women wore in order to add fullness to a skirt. In the opening sequence of Petticoat Junction we saw the three girls' petticoats hanging over the side of the watertank that provided water for the Hooterville cannonball. They were hanging there because the girls were obviously bathing in the water tank.

2005年9月17日 · It could be that they are bathing in a tank for restocking the steam engines. It’s called “Petticoat Junction” after all. I seem to recall that they were easily visible from the approaching train, which means it probably isn’t a city water tower they are in. I may be misremembering though, the camera might have panned up as well as out.

Hooterville (fnarr fnarr!) might not have had a lot of city slicker accoutrements, but with a sturdy water tower and swimmers like those, small-town life just couldn’t have been that bad.

2011年3月8日 · Hooterville, if near Pixley, has to be in central California. Pixley is a real place on Hwy.99, and as the Hooterville Cannonball was actually the Sierra Railway #3, which runs not far from there, I like to think it's still somewhere not far from Porterville.

2016年1月25日 · The exteriors with the real train were, from everything I have read, filmed along the Sierra Railroad, or "Railtown". The P.J. water tank still exists, with a roof over it now, but I have never figured out just where the shots for "Sam Drucker's Store" or the "Hooterville Depot" were taken, and have run into nothing but dead ends.
