2015年6月11日 · Ok, I know what a hex/phillips screw is, but the OP was about a set screw, which is a different kind of animal Those hex/phillips things are typically considered sheet metal screws and usually have a courser thread, while set screws have a finer machine thread, no head and typically use a hex wrench (not a hex driver) or flat head screwdriver to remove.

2010年10月27日 · I ground a slot in the screw head with my Dremel grinding disc thinking I could use a common screwdriver. The slot stripped out too. I drilled the head off the screw, and the blade came off allowing me to unthread the rest of the screw by hand. I left the same screw off each blade for balance purposes until I can pick up screw replacements.

2025年2月15日 · Use a much longer screw. Fill the hole with toothpicks and glue, after it dries drill out a pilot hole and put your screw in. Drill a 1/4" hole in the face 1" back from the edge, glue a 1/4" dowel in there, then drill a pilot hole and put a screw through the dowel. This will give you cross grain to screw into.

2012年12月6日 · I tried two visegrips on a miter I once had. one on the blade set so the blade wouldn't move. Second one on the bolt, with enough room to smack the visegrip with a ball pean hammer. Tried each way, when the bolt started to move, no more smacking the pliers. Find a good flat or two on the bolt head to lock onto. Straight jaw visegrips work better.

If on the other hand the spring clips you removed were actually to retain the wheel on the shaft, then the hex head is ground into the shaft to allow you to tighten the shaft to your tilt assembly.

2013年10月18日 · Just take them out and sharpen them. If you don't feel up to that, take them somewhere. I sharpen jointer and planer blades all the time. I coat the bevel with layout dye (magic marker works too) then set the grinder rest so that the wheel contacts the center of the bevel, then carefully grind them back to an edge.
