While in the Valley of Shadows the Robot is affected by strange forces and grows to the size of a building. Will and Dr. Smith enter the Robot to try to reverse the process and save him.

When they find the gigantic Robot with an access panel on his base open, they deduce Will’s plan and decide to go inside to find the boy and Dr. Smith. Meanwhile, Will discovers how to return the Robot to his original size and he begins to shrink quickly. Smith, Will, John and Don are almost trapped as the Robot grows smaller and smaller.

On October 16, 1997 at about 8PM ET, the Robinson family departs from Cape Kennedy, Florida in the Jupiter 2 spaceship to colonize Alpha Centauri, but Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris), working as a saboteur for a foreign government, rigs the environmental control robot to destroy the ship's control systems within hours after take off.

Both robots appear together in Lost in Space episode #20, "War of the Robots", and in episode #60, "Condemned of Space". The Robot did not appear in the unaired pilot episode, but was added to the series once it had been greenlit .

After confronting the aliens, a fight ensues. The Robot is able to destroy their machine, and the aliens disappear. This is the shortest episode of the series, at 49:21. Not counting the unaired pilot (No Place To Hide at 52:10), West of Mars is the longest episode, at 51:51.

Robot is a friendly character on Netflix 's Lost in Space. He develops a bond with Will Robinson, becoming his friend. He is an amalgam of shapeshifting alien metal and organic thought patterns and one of many alien Robots that comprise an entire species.

The Lost in Space episode aired on September 8, 1973. Dr. Dr. Smith (voiced by Jonathan Harris) was the only character from the original program to appear in the special, along with the Robot (who was named Robon and employed in flight control rather than a support activity).

The planet is invaded by an army of tiny robots who closely resemble the Robinsons' Robot and proclaim him as their long-predicted king. The Robot agrees to become their king, but when he is not the ruthless ruler they expected, they decide that he needs some "Dr. Smith" in him.
