Shuri Castle (首里城, Shuri-jō, Okinawan: Sui Ugusuku[ 3 ]) is a Ryukyuan gusuku castle in Shuri, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Between 1429 and 1879, it was the palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom, before becoming largely neglected. In 1945, during the Battle of Okinawa, it was almost completely destroyed.

Shurijo Castle symbolizes the history and culture of Okinawa, and its history is that of the Ryukyu Kingdom itself.

Shuri Castle is one of five castles designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. The striking red "brick" roof tiles are a hallmark of Okinawa, and very different from castles elsewhere in Japan. On October 31 2019, a fire completely destroyed most of the main castle structures.
