A stem cell transplant (SCT), also known as a bone marrow transplant (BMT), lets doctors give higher doses of treatment to try to cure acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This treatment is intense, and not everyone with AML is a good candidate for it.

Highly advanced and progressive scientific research has focused on the application of stem-cell transplantation on specific leukemia types. We evaluated and compared the therapeutic potential of SC transplantation with various forms of leukemia. This review aimed to focus on the application of SCs in the treatment of leukemia.

A stem cell transplant (SCT) lets doctors give higher doses of chemo, sometimes along with radiation therapy, to kill the cells in the bone marrow (including leukemia cells). After these treatments, the patient gets a transplant of blood-forming stem cells to restore their bone marrow.
