Trunk, tree-like when not pruned, prop-roots. Flowers- Inflorescence-terminal and bracteates, male large spicate raceme, female solitary or 2-3 borne together, each surrounded by leaf-like bracts. Fruits- syncarp of angled drupes.

Pandanus candelabrum (Gaudich.) Kurz. A large shrub; trunk 2-4 m tall; prop-roots basal, few, and short. Mature leaves 3-4 m long, up to 9 cm wide, not glaucous; margins and midrib (beneath) stoutly armed. Inflorescences terminal. Female infl. Pedunculate, peduncles up to 40-50 cm long.
