2023年3月13日 · Vinyl floor tile can make good patterns for ribs and hot wiring foam wings. Cut them out with a scroll saw and sand the edges smooth. Mostly I use the craft grade plywood sold at Home Depot in 2 foot square sheets. It's hard enough to not abrade as fast as the balsa blanks do when you are final sanding to shape.

2010年12月4日 · In order to do mount the sail / anti-sail tubes, we will install some attachment 'hard points' to the aluminum ribs. The hard points are simply 0.625 square aluminum tube, glued using 3M 2216 adhesive and rivets to the appropriate spots on each rib.

2012年5月7日 · You need two templates with a number of slightly over size blanks in between, then just sand to shape, and cut-out the spar slots with a junior hacksaw. I have created sets of balsa ribs that way for years, now everyone seems to have their own personal CNC machine, or knows someone who has one.

2023年3月5日 · I'm trying to figure out how to go about cutting rib templates for tapered wings from plans that only seem to show the root rib and the rib length. I've linked some OZ examples below... Balsa Nova 40; Goldberg Sukhoi; UltraSport 40; Do you just scale them and assume a variable chord or is there a trick?

2010年1月31日 · First I replaced the top skin and clecoed and back drilled through the new extrusion. I used some scrap aluminum for a template. On the next wing I will make one for the bottom also and can do the nose ribs without the nose skin. - Set the nose skin on top and clecoed into the extrusion and template, back drilled throught the nose skin.

Wing Ribs The wing ribs are the largest templates in the plans set, and the one most vulnerable to dimension errors. Plus, in the most-recent printing of the plans, the templates are actually reduced to fit on a single 8x10 page rather than the 11x17 fold-out.
