Bukidnon is a landlocked plateau in North Central Mindanao. It is bounded on the north by Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro; on the south by North Cotabato and Davao City; on the east by Agusan del Sur and Davao del Norte; and west by Lanao del Sur.

Bukidnon, as an area was already long inhabited by the Bukidnons – called Montesses (mountain people) by the Spaniards. These people accordingly remained traditional until the 1860s even for the fact that Spain had been in the Philippines since 1565 (Lao, 1985).

2018年6月11日 · "Bukidnon" is a Bisayan word for "people of the mountains," first used by Bisayan-speaking settlers of Mindanao's north coast, on whom its negative connotation for non-Hispanicized (i.e., "non-civilized") mountain people was not lost.

Bukidnon is a province in the Northern Mindanao region (Region X) of the Philippines. It has a population of 1,541,308 (2020 Census figures) distributed over 2 cities and 20 municipalities. The provincial capital is the City of Malaybalay.

Bukidnon trace their origins to a pre-Islamic, Proto-Manobo-speaking population located along the southwestern coast of Mindanao, perhaps near the mouth of the Rio Grande.

Bukidnon is also labelled as the highland paradise in the heart of Mindanao. While it derived its name from the Visayan term “bukid” for “mountain”, it is predominantly a rolling grassland plateau with an average elevation of 915 meters.
