The Calgary Tower features an exterior LED light show each morning before sunrise and nightly from dusk to midnight. The LED light shows are created to celebrate national holidays, cheer on local and national sports teams, support local festivals, and raise awareness for important causes.

In addition to lighting for annual holidays and citywide events, the Calgary Tower will also consider special occasion lighting requests for nondenominational, nonpolitical registered national charitable events and/or causes.

An LED, multicolour exterior lighting system was added and was first tested on August 1, 2014. 12 lights were added to the crown and 24 to the exterior floor. Each light has been programmed to be able to create over 16.5 million combinations of colour and lighting effects.

Optics Lighting used Lumenbeam Large and XLarge luminaires to put the Calgary Tower back in the spotlight in an ever-crowded downtown skyline. Inaugurated in 1968, the 626ft-high Calgary Tower has been an enduring symbol of the city.

On October 15, the Calgary Tower will shine in blue for World Food Day. The exterior LED light show, featuring 132 lights capable of producing over 16.5 million colors and effects, will be visible from dusk to midnight.
