2025年2月20日 · If you google image coastal redwood bonsai you will see the nice looking ones have lateral branches that are horizontal or slightly angled downward. So the biggest issue to me is the large swelling where the 2 strong upright laterals are attached at a 45 degree upward angle. The lower ones are more or less what you are looking for.

I keep mine in either 100% akadama, or 3:1:1 with some pine bark mixed in, so a pretty wet mix. But I live where they occur naturally, and my akadama doesnt break down in hard freezes.

I have a good idea of how to winter the pines but am unsure of what would be best for the two coastal redwoods. I live in Denver and have only east facing windows. 2021年8月7日 · I’ve three Coastal Redwoods and a Dawn Redwood growing out that started off this size. Each is in solid 3 gallon nursery pot, and believe it or not, enriched garden soil with a pumice drain layer. They are all healthy, growing like gangbusters with over 1 - 1.5” diameter trunks, foliage and roots growing fabulously.
