2012年6月7日 · Re: Live plans in daphnia culture If you are going to keep Daphnia inside keep the light on 15-20 hours a day and use the dirty water from cleaning your tanks. Dechlorinated water is useless. It will just crash your cultures. An air stone will cause a current that will toss them around killing them. I feed mine powdered fish flakes or green water.

2010年4月26日 · Thanks for all the help, but I guess I'm just not cut out for Daphnia/Moina. My culture crashed, even with the larger container! The only survivors are a few adult Daphnia living in the containers with my larvae, yet too large for the babies to eat. I made another order for a Daphnia culture online. Wish me luck.

2006年12月18日 · I have a small daphnia culture that I set up about a week ago, and I still haven't fed them anyting. I guess they'll be fine eating the bacteria for now, but as of yet there are no signs of algae (hardly any sun over here ATM), so I'm thinking of giving them a little yeast.

2009年2月4日 · In summertime, Daphnia reproduce via parthenogenesis (a kind of cloning) - you will almost only find females in the tub. When it gets colder, also males "appear" and the females produce eggs that can last through winter and ice, similar to Artemia salina.

2009年4月9日 · I tried yeast one time. The next day the culture I fed the yeast to was cloudy and dead. Needless to say I kept feeding the others flake food/algae mix. I have used collard greens juice I got from a blender. It seemed to work well but flake food was much more cost effective and I saw little difference.
