Fungal evolution: diversity, taxonomy and phylogeny of the Fungi
We here review the current status of the phylogeny and taxonomy of fungi, providing an overview of the main defined groups. Based on current knowledge, nine phylum‐level clades can be defined: Opisthosporidia, Chytridiomycota, Neocallimastigomycota, Blastocladiomycota, Zoopagomycota, Mucoromycota, Glomeromycota, Basidiomycota and Ascomycota.
A genome-scale phylogeny of the kingdom Fungi - ScienceDirect
2021年4月26日 · By synthesizing data from more than fifteen hundred publicly available genomes, we provide a robust phylogenetic framework to explore fungal evolution and examine sources of conflict and support for the backbone of the fungal phylogeny.
A genome Tree of Life for the Fungi kingdom | PNAS
The evolutionary phylogeny, or kinship, among the fungi have been inferred almost exclusively from the gene-information–based tree (“the gene trees”), construction of which use, most commonly, the multiple sequence alignment (MSA) method on the gene or protein sequences encoded for a small number of highly conserved and orthologous genes ...
The Fungal Tree of Life: from Molecular Systematics to Genome …
In this article, we review the major phyla, subphyla, and classes of the kingdom Fungi and provide brief summaries of ecologies, morphologies, and exemplar taxa. We also provide examples of how molecular phylogenetics and evolutionary genomics have advanced our understanding of fungal evolution within each of the phyla and some of the major ...
A Genome-Scale Phylogeny of the Kingdom Fungi - PMC
Li et al. analyze 290 genes from 1,644 species to infer a genome-scale phylogeny of the fungal kingdom. Analyses using different approaches and data matrices show that 85% of inferred relationships among fungi are robustly supported. The results provide a robust phylogenomic framework to explore the tempo and mode of fungal evolution.
A genome-scale phylogeny of the kingdom Fungi - PubMed
2021年4月26日 · To examine poorly resolved relationships and assess progress toward a genome-scale phylogeny of the fungal kingdom, we compiled a phylogenomic data matrix of 290 genes from the genomes of 1,644 species that includes …
Fungus - Evolution, Phylogeny, Eukaryotes | Britannica
2025年2月18日 · Fungal groups can be related by cell wall composition (i.e., presence of both chitin and alpha-1,3 and alpha-1,6-glucan), organization of tryptophan enzymes, and synthesis of lysine (i.e., by the aminoadipic acid pathway).

Fungal phylogeny (Chapter 2) - Molecular Fungal Biology
2012年6月5日 · We will break the continuum into three levels, the ‘Big Picture’ of fungal evolution or how the organisms studied by mycologists relate to the rest of life, the four phyla that make the kingdom Fungi, and individual members of the four phyla.
