In response to a feared invasion by Odin and Thor, Angrboda's family transferred the souls of the remaining giants into soul marbles. They also displayed larger giant bodies to mislead Odin into thinking the giants had perished. Angrboda revealed to Atreus, the Jötnar's champion, his destiny as the guardian of these souls.
