2021年3月15日 · If you hold a long stick with your hands close together, it's really hard to move precisely. If you hold it with your hands further apart, your can move it much more dexterously. It's the exact same with a sword; it doesn't just turn into a club. The pommel doesn't do as much balancing as you think either. Most of it comes from the blade's taper.

Anyways, I've seen armour stands holding swords and shields and other items before but when I click on an armour stand with a sword it doesn't seem to hold it. I can put on armour just fine but not a sword or anything. So yeah how do I add a sword to the hand of the stand?

2022年2月4日 · Armor stands in Java have arms but they're disabled by default. If you have commands enabled, you can do for example:

Magdeburg Sword- definitely a longsword. It was just as @prodigalpariah pointed out- he draws one-handed, but switches to both in a fight. My bad ¯_(ツ)_/¯

2014年12月15日 · The right hand usually stays on the hilt near the crossguard and the left hand supports the blade from behind. Although there are numerous strikes with the pommel while the sword is sheathed and occasionally with both hands on the hilt, I've never seen somebody completely reverse the sword and grip the blade with both hands. 2022年2月28日 · On controller you hold down the interact button (Y or Triangle) and then press either L1 or R1 depending on which hand you want to change grip for. Probably similar on PC... hold down the button you use to pick stuff up and press one of your light attack buttons.

The maneuverability lost is negligible, and it protects your hand better. This graphic is obviously intended to be funny, but you absolutely can hold a sword like that (and probably should!). Also worth noting the grips used in the image are far too tight, they should hold the sword in more of a handshake grip for better control and wrist mobility.

Against very heavily armored targets it was not uncommon to hold the sword upside-down and bash people over the head with the crossguard or pommel. Doesn't work with curved swords commonly seen in Asia, however, as you can't get a secure grip with such a weapon.
