Pierre Louis Vasquez also known as Luis Vázquez (October 3, 1798 – September 5, 1868) was a mountain man and trader. He was a contemporary of many famous European-American explorers of the early west and would come to know many of them, including Jim Bridger, Manuel Lisa, Kit Carson and Andrew Sublette, besides his own father Benito Vázquez.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 3, 1798, to Spanish fur trader Benito Vázquez and Marie-Julie Papin, the youngest of eleven brothers.

Louis Vasquez (1798–1868) was a fur trapper and mountain man active in Colorado during the 1820s and 1830s. He reportedly constructed Fort Convenience and a hunter’s cabin that predated the majority of settlement in the region.

By the early 1830s he had shifted his operations to the mountains, a popular and active mountain man and trader. He traveled back and forth between the mountains and Saint Louis almost yearly, his reputation growing.

Pierre Luis Vasquez (later called “Louis”) was a partner with Jim Bridger at Fort Bridger in 1846. Louis married a widow, Narcissa Burdette Land, about 1846 in a civil ceremony.
