2024年11月9日 · The paintings representing battles under Louis XIV (r. 1643-1715) show three to five flags emerging from a forest of pikes, sometimes associated with the white Colonel's flag. In 1758, the number of flags was reduced to two per battalion.

2015年6月6日 · In 1688, Louis XIV ordered that all the captures flags should be displayed in the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a rule that was maintained until the end of the Ancient Regime. In 1793, the convention ordered the closure of all churches.
