The Nenana River (Lower Tanana: Nina No’) is a tributary of the Tanana River, approximately 140 miles (230 km) long, in central Alaska in the United States. [3] It drains an area on the north slope of the Alaska Range on the south edge of the Tanana Valley southwest of Fairbanks .

The Nenana River, a glacial river, forms the eastern boundary of Denali National Park and is possibly the most popular river rafting destination in the state. It offers a variety of levels of difficulty and has a thriving commercial rafting industry that operates 2 hour, 4 hour and overnight trips for locals as well as out of state tourists.

Denali’s newest wayside and trailhead, the Tsenesdghaas Na’ trailhead takes you on an adventure through the forest with scenic views of the Nenana River. The Nenana River corridor extends from the Park Road entrance south to milepost 231 on the Parks Highway and is bounded to the west by the Parks Highway and to the east by the Nenana River.

Most tours take place on the Nenana River, a very typically Alaskan glacially fed river that's brownish in color due to the heavy concentration of glacial silt. The Nenana is a long northern flowing river. It heads from the Nenana Glacier and flows south out of the Alaska Range and makes a northern correction just a few miles east of Cantwell to then flow north through the Alaska Range and up to Nenana where it joins the Tanana River.
