Replacing the cable would require soldering a new connector to the end of the lead (perhaps even replacing the lead with a port on the monitor itself). Any DE-15 connector (15-pin D-Sub with 3 rows of 5 pins) will work, though as long as you get the pin out right.

Most actual VGA cards supplied an optional +5V on the pin rather than blocking off the key, but if the monitor doesn't use that +5V (and the vast majority didn't) it was standard to omit the pin for compatibility with video cards based on the original standard.

2008年6月15日 · The best I can tell from your photo, the connector is missing a pin. In addition, the one in the upper right hand corner looks severely bent and one in the second row looks slightly bent. If you're good with a soldering gun, you can replace the connector. You would have to strip back the wire and make sure you connect each wire to the proper pin.

2008年2月24日 · If it has "a tail" it is possible to replace only the plug, but that requires dextrous multi-pin soldering, while splicing the cable with another one (with VGA jack attached) is much easier. If you are handy with a soldering iron simply swap the plug.
