6 天之前 · Somerset County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP will analyze the hazards faced by the County and its communities, residents, and businesses, and will identify a strategy for minimizing the vulnerability to these hazards.

Somerset County’s chief governing body is a board of three commissioners elected to serve a four-year term. Duties of the Commissioners include responsibility for voter registration, elections, assessment of persons and property, care of dependents, veterans’ services, fiscal managers, and appointment of county personnel.

Somerset County boasts two State Parks, several State Forest areas, two major ski and convention centers. Today, tourism, manufacturing, coal mining, and agriculture are the major economic forces in Somerset County.
