5.56 Case trim length, I'm confused - AR15.COM
2015年1月21日 · After first shooting the gun (5.56 NATO) and coming across some .223 brass I couldn't help but measure the two to see if there was a clue as to why you cant fire a 5.56 in a 223 gun, it was obvious, the .223 is a shorter case then the 5.56. Threads here answer the trim length of a 5.56 with 1.75 and also use that trim length for 5.56 NATO.
.223 vs 5.56 casings - Ruger Forum
2013年6月21日 · drt4lfe. Moot point. Once a 5.56 NATO (AKA 5.56x45) cartridge has been fired and sized, it is no longer a 5.56, rather just a 223 Rem. With loaded factory ammo, yes there is a difference. 5.56 NATO ammo is loaded to a higher chamber pressure spec (62k psi) than civilian 223 Rem ammo (55k psi).
Casing Stuck In Chamber - AR15.COM
2020年6月28日 · After some investigating I realized the firearm was not extracting and ejecting the spent casing. The casing was getting stuck in the chamber and I was a able to pry one out with a screw driver and try again but it happened again and I gave up and went home and get it out with a cleaning rod through the barrel. Now I am wondering what to do.

.223/5.56 primer&casing questions - Ruger Forum
2017年5月11日 · Only MILSPEC primers designed for 5.56 is the way to go. As well you may experience failure to fire and this can usually be traced to insufficient stiker energy. I was the Test Director at Aberdeen Proving Ground for the M16A1E1 adopted by USMC in 1982 and I had five failures to fire in 244,000 rounds and that created quite a stir but we had a ...
5.56 loading issues-help me understand what went wrong
2020年8月25日 · In working up 5.56 loads using this fully-prepped brass (sized, trimmed, primer pockets uniformed & crimp reamed using Hornady case prep center, and annealed properly based on Tempilaque) and Speer 62 gr. Gold Dots; after bullet seating, I went to put a light taper crimp on my cases (as some were compressed loads).
.223 or 5.56 case trim length - AR15.COM
2013年5月7日 · The lake city 5.56 brass i have is consistently over 1.75, so i trim it to 1.75. Federal .223 is almost always just a hair over 1.74...so i trim that to 1.74. No issues loading either. Just be sure to sort your brass by headstamp. Both are measured and trimmed after sizing.
Swage or Ream primer pockets on 5.56 Brass - AR15.COM
2020年11月19日 · Had (and still have) a lot of .223/5.56 range pick up brass. Size and decap. Checked primer pockets under bright light and magnifying glass to sort out those with crimp vs no crimp (some military brass has already been reloaded and crimp removed (Black Hills blue box - they use a reamer)). Then used Dillon Super Swage to remove crimps.
Shell casing stuck in chamber today: Probable cause? - AR15.COM
2012年11月18日 · Also in the future I will use my standard carbine buffer with unknown and underpowered 223. I assumed that ammo being 5.56 would be good but that does not mean it is mil spec pressure especially being reload. I will post something in the ammo section. I would like to know the difference say between M193 in .223 and M193 in 5.56 for example.
WMA Headstamp 5.56 Brass ?? - AR15.COM
2020年9月17日 · I have seen WMA head stamped 9mm and 5.56 "in the wild" since about 2016 or so. I've reloaded a bunch of the 9mm brass and some of the 5.56. No issues with the brass, but all of the factory loaded 5.56 I have (spanning multiple lots and years) have had some QC issues. Very inconsistent OAL, crimps, sealants, and one 5.56 that was almost a squib.
