Earl Ray Tomblin (born March 15, 1952) is an American politician who served as the 35th governor of West Virginia from 2011 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the West Virginia Senate from 1980 to 2011 and as president of the West Virginia Senate from 1995 to 2011.

Earl Ray Tomblin (born March 15, 1952) is an American politician. In 2010, he became Acting Governor of West Virginia after Joe Manchin was elected to the U.S. Senate. He was Acting governor from November 15, 2010 until 2011.

Earl Ray Tomblin, who was born March 15, 1952, in Logan County, was one of West Virginia's longest-serving legislators when he became the state's 35th governor. He was elected as a Democrat from Logan County to the House of Delegates in 1974, when he was only 22 years old and still a senior at West Virginia University .
