2020年8月5日 · There really is not a good option for a lead free shotgun slug for smooth bore's. The Remington copper solid was a good performer in a rifled barrel, but I also remember them going for $18 a box of 5, and that was 10-15 years ago. Don't bother trying a weird specialty slug like the one above for deer, I doubt they are going to be very effective.

2024年1月12日 · I have tried the Lyman Foster slug and is is about the worst slug I have ever shot. Loaded exactly per the Lyman recipes it would shoot better than about 8" groups at 50 yards. I get far better groups with Lee slugs and slugs from home made moulds as well as Rapine, round balls and other slugs.

2008年6月7日 · Thye problem with most non-shotgun designed slug and bullet sin the nose is longer than .375-.400" to the front band. You simply cannot crimp them well, using an Overshot card can help, but then they sometimes slip off. In extreme cases the OS card can get trapped between the barrel, and thew slug, potentially causing more than a "flyer". Greg

2008年5月5日 · Rapine has a nice hollow base slug with w semi-wadcutter nose that flys good and roll crimps like a dream. The mold runs a little large so keep the size ono more that .003" large that bore or choke. The skirts are then and need at least a .250" nitro (Circle Fly) under to keep the card from blowing into the slug's hollow base.

2012年9月26日 · with the Lyman slug the trick on smooth bore is fitting/slugging the shotgun barrel with a slug/wad combination the slug has to be cast 100% [no voids,lines ect] in 12 ga my Ithaca 37 tosses them at about 4-6'' at 100 yards on a good day[ME] that is with 12 R wads it does not like the AA12F114 at all,it throws them all over hope this helps Doc.

2019年7月5日 · This 525gr slug, allegedly, is the most accurate of the Russian made shotgun slug molds. I'll be finding out shortly, when it arrives. I do have a couple other Russian slug molds, one is pretty accurate in both smoothbore and fully rifled. The proprietary wads are pretty pricey, yet I did buy some anyway.

Epoxy makes a great slug, but that's expensive stuff, and it takes a while to cure. Makes a real mess, too. 7. 2016年4月3日 · I have only tried Blue Dot and Steel from the list. Blue Dot gave me rather inconsistent results with slug loads at 1-1/4 ounce and lighter, but good results with heavy (1-7/8 ounce) shot loads. Your 1-3/4 ounce slugs should work well with BD. Steel will work too, but you should probably use magnum primers to ensure reliable ignition.
