A trommel screen, also known as a rotary screen, is a mechanical screening machine used to separate materials, mainly in the mineral and solid-waste processing industries. [1] It consists of a perforated cylindrical drum that is normally elevated at an angle at the feed end. [2]

In wastewater treatment plants, the Hycor ® Rotoshear ® unit is renowned as an internally fed rotary screen for pretreatment and primary treatment to replace primary clarifiers. They are also used as sludge screens.

The Drumscreen Monster® is a proven fine screening solution for municipal wastewater that has both high flows and lower solids content. When this rotary screen technology is used at a plant’s headworks it protects sensitive treatment processes including providing membrane bioreactor (MBR) protection from fibers and other fine particles.

Munson's compact Rotary Drum Screen removes solids from industrial and municipal waste streams, and recovers solid product from process streams, at rates from 200 to 4,650 gal/min (760 to 17,600 liter/min) without blinding or clogging the screen.

With its triangular wire and outer feed, the 1h2o3 rotary drum screens are efficient in processing rough waste and greasy effluent. Sieves are essential equipment in wastewater pre-treatment. They are used to remove suspended solids before subsequent treatment stages.
