Niklaus Mikaelson, commonly known as Klaus, is the Original hybrid in The Vampire Diaries. His unique status is a result of his mother, Esther's affair with Ansel, the Alpha of a werewolf pack. This gave Klaus a werewolf heritage that was initially kept secret.
