2015年1月31日 · For partial-hour quantities other than 30 minutes, I would avoid other decimal fractions unless times are being measured in six-minute or 36-second intervals, but .5 is so idiomatic as "one half" that I would consider "1.5 hours" to be more readable than "1 hour and 30 minutes" or "1 1/2 hours", or even "1½ hours".

But I've also heard that the second version is how they typically write it on paper forms at hospitals (that's what native speakers say).

2017年1月25日 · I may be in the minority here, but within 1 to 2 hours tells me between now and one hour, and at the most between now and two hours. Within does not refer to the range between the one and two hour mark, but to the period inside now and before one hour is over, and certainly before two hours is over.

I would say this is a fairly strong idiom; without some specific stylistic reason (like the need for clarity or precision) to include it, zero value portions of different units are omitted. (E.g., we'd do the same thing with 0 feet 5 inches or 2 cups 0 ounces.)

I have heard '1/2 hour' spoken as 'a half hour' and '1 hour' spoken as 'one hour', but I don't know how to say '1/4 hour' or '3/4 hour'?.
