The .35 Remington (9.1 x 49 mm) is the only cartridge from Remington's lineup of medium-power rimless cartridges still in commercial production. Introduced in 1906, it was originally chambered for the Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle in 1908.

The original .35 Remington load generated over 1,900 foot pounds of energy and quickly became a favorite among American hunters. Particularly when used in a high quality rifle, the .35 Remington is capable of pretty darn good accuracy and I’ve shot many nice groups with an off the shelf Remington Model 81.

The .35 Remington is one of a family of cartridges that were designed for the Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle released in 1908. The .25, .30, .32 Remington cartridges were loosely based on a rimless version of the .30-30 Winchester while the .35 Remington was based on a rimless version of the slightly wider bodied .30-40 Krag.
