2022年8月2日 · You still can run 6V6 and 5Y3 tubes in some builds that use the beefier transformers. The issue there is the 'smaller' transformer in the 5E3 attenuates the bass response and contributes to the iconic 5E3 vibe.

2017年11月14日 · Very nice cleans, just remember it's a 17w amp and adjust your expectations. You can also swap the rectifier tube for a 5Y3 and turn it into a "Super 12" - you lose quite a bit of headroom but if your use is mainly bedroom you may want to try it.

2008年3月24日 · hi, all. I just found a Magnatone Varsity amp on ebay - probably 55 years old, very simple, 2 inputs and a Volume pot. It looks a little funky (grillcloth-wise) , but I've heard they sound good, same era and basic sound as Tweed Champs, Gibson LP Jr. amps from that era.
