The 6U8A is a triode pentode by designation but is constructed as a beam tetrode. The 6U8A differs from the 6U8 mainly in the fact that the heating time is tightly controlled. The design purpose was in VHF radio and television between 80 MHz to 220 MHz.

The 6U8 is a triode pentode from 1954. 6U8 is the American designation and ECF82 would be the Mullard type designation if the two were exactly identical. In ECF82 Mullard put both designations on the envelope indicating equivalence. The design purpose was in VHF radio and television between 80 MHz to 220 MHz. Bands II and III.

The regeneration control provides a variable voltage to the 6U8A pentode's screen grid, it is used to keep the detector circuit just at or slightly below the point of RF oscillation. The regeneration control's voltage is regulated by the 1N4748 22 Volt zener diode, a 24V zener will also work here.

2018年10月19日 · I've tried 6U8A RCA, but ECF82 Polam goes much better. Those Polish Tube Valves sounds better in overall, but there is a annoying problem with vocal sibilance (especially "S" syllable). Is there any good sounding ECF82, 6U8A, or 6F2 known by anyone? Preferably with good dynamics, good bass control, smooth mids and without overbright hi-end?

Thankfully, there is a solution by implementing a simple wiring change and substituting the plentiful (for now) and otherwise identical sounding NOS 6U8A tube in place of the 7199. Due to the extremely high voltages present in tube electronic equipment, all modifications should be performed by a qualified technician.

As one half is a pentode similar to an EF86 and the other half is a low power triode, I'm thinking about a Marshall'ish preamp with the U68A as cathode follower and previous gain stage. with one to two triodes placed in front of it.
