The AED/AED2 modelling code-base is a community-driven library of modules and algorithms for simulation of "aquatic ecodynamics" - water quality, aquatic biogeochemsitry, biotic habitat and aquatic ecosystem dynamics.

It utilizes an Attention-based Encoder-Decoder (AED) architecture. Results are reported in Character Error Rate (CER%) for Chinese and Word Error Rate (WER%) for English.

Pre-compiled binaries and source code are available for download via links in the below table. Note that AED is not a standalone model, but a library that must be connected with a host model. For GLM, the combined GLM-AED2 model package is released as a single executable. For TUFLOW-FV we provide the tuflow_external_wq shared library as a plugin.

The General Lake Model (GLM) is a water balance and one-dimensional vertical stratification hydrodynamic model, which is dynamically coupled with the AED water quality modelling library. This repository houses the coupled model code libraries, example applications, and binaries (ready-to-run executable files).

Aside from the setup of the modules to be simulated (described below), several configuration options must first be defined for AED2 to manage its operation and interaction with the host model. Note this is different for GLM vs TUFLOW-FV.
