The son of speed skating coach Klaas Schenk, Ard Schenk became one of the all-time speed skating greats. Together with compatriot Kees Verkerk, Schenk dominated the sport in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He won the World Championships from 1970-1972, and the European Championships in 1966, 1970 and 1972.

Hendrik "Henk" Schenk (born 29 April 1945 in Wieringerwaard) is an American former wrestler who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics and in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Schenk is a cousin of the speed skater Ard Schenk, who won one silver and three gold medals at the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics.

He graduated from Oregon State University in 1963 and later started Hi-Tech Movers, leaving that job in 2003 when an injury mandated it. He then became a real estate broker in Oregon. Schenk’s cousin, back in the Netherlands, was Ard Schenk, one of the greatest ever speed skaters, who won three gold medals at the 1972 Winter Olympics.
