He is the youngest son of actor and director Andy Serkis and actress Lorraine Ashbourne [3] with an older sister, Ruby, and an older brother. He attended Highgate School. [4] Ashbourne Serkis began acting on television. In May 2016, he made his film debut portraying Young Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Serkis married actress Lorraine Ashbourne in July 2002. He lives in Crouch End , North London with Ashbourne and their three children: Ruby (b. 1998), Sonny (b. 2000) and Louis (b. 2004), all of whom are actors.
