Antonio ("Toño") Martorell Cardona (born 18 April 1939) is a Puerto Rican painter, graphic artist and writer. He regularly exhibits in Puerto Rico and the United States and participates in arts events around the world.

Printmaker, painter, illustrator, creator of installations, set and costume designer, writer, draftsman and professor. After completing diplomacy studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., he opted to pursue the arts.

2023年8月7日 · Born in San Juan in 1939, Antonio Martorell has for decades been one of Puerto Rico’s celebrated artists; in March 2023, President Biden awarded him the National Medal of Arts, calling Martorell “one of Puerto Rico’s greatest cultural ambassadors.”

Antonio Martorell Cardona (Santurce, 18 de abril de 1939) es un pintor y escritor puertorriqueño. Hijo de Antonio Martorell II y Luisa Cardona, estudió diplomacia en la Universidad de Georgetown de Washington D. C., y después estudió dibujo y pintura con Julio Martín Caro en Madrid.

Martorell is the resident artist and director of the Pío López Martínez Art Museum at the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey. "Toño", as he is affectionately known, keeps workshops in Cayey, Ponce Beach, Hato Rey, and New York City's Barrio.
