USS Essex (CV/CVA/CVS-9) was an aircraft carrier and the lead ship of the 24-ship Essex class built for the United States Navy during World War II. She was the fourth US Navy ship to bear the name.

2020年1月14日 · USS Essex (CV-9) became the lead ship of this class and was ordered on July 3rd, 1940, laid down on April 28th, 1941, and launched on July 31st, 1942. By this time, the United States was at war against the Axis powers, namely Japan in the West and Germany in the East, and called upon many ship types in their march on the respective capitals.
