Efrafa was a large warren founded by the power-hungry and aggressive General Woundwort. It was built around the crossing point of two green bridle paths, one of which was tunnel-like, bordered on both sides by brush. Woundwort used his tireless zeal and fear to win the loyalty and control of his followers.

While Watership Down is symbolic of democracy in action, Efrafa, a neighboring warren run by the cruel and violent General Woundwort, is symbolic of authoritarianism and fascism. Fall of Efrafa was a British crust punk band formed in Brighton, England in 2005. They disbanded in 2009 after completing a trilogy of concept albums – Owsla (2006), Elil (2007), and Inlé (2009) – inspired by the mythology of the 1972 novel Watership Down .

The Marks refer to a type of ranking in Efrafa, which serves as an identification to other members. Rabbits born in Efrafa are marked as kittens: they are bitten, deep, and under the chin or in a haunch or forepaw. Then they can be told by the scar for the rest of their lives.

Unlike the warren of the snares, where all the rabbits are equal in their self-deception, Efrafa is close to a totalitarian rabbit warren. The Wide Patrols that the Efrafan Owsla run are military groups designed to find predators and other wandering rabbits who might draw attention.
